Plastic Free Whitstable Business Champions: Buttercup
The raison d'être of Buttercup, the children's toy shop on Harbour Street, is selling toys, books, clothing and the like. Community Day on Saturday July 4th 2026 at Whitstable Castle, 11am to 4pm
CT5 People’s Forum are repeating our Community Day from last year which we held on July 12th 2025 in front of St Alphege Church. It was a great success and clearly beneficial to those community groups who took part. As you can see from the picture, it was very sunny and we had a lot of fun but there wasn’t much spare room! We’re really grateful that this year we are able to hold the event in the grounds of Whitstable Castle. This will mean that more groups can take part

Plastic Free Whitstable Business Champions: The Horsebridge
Our local Whitstable community arts centre, The Horsebridge, opened in 2004 and registered as a Plastic Free Business Champion in 2018. Talking to their manager, Liz, it is clear that she believes “reducing plastic should be important to everyone”. The Horsebridge, as a public centre, should model best practice and raise awareness through their projects and exhibitions.
