Who will speak for Whitstable?

Our two councils, Canterbury City and Kent County, will disappear in two years’ time. This is because of a central government programme of local government reform.
They will be replaced by a unitary authority, probably covering the whole of East Kent.

Canterbury City Council is about to commence a review of local democracy. It will ask if people in the three towns, Herne Bay, Canterbury and Whitstable, want to continue with no local councils to speak for them.
CT5 People’s Forum’s next meeting will be at the Umbrella Centre on Thursday February 26th at 7.30pm.
Jonathan Owen of the National Association of Local Councils will speak as will local councillors from Whitstable and Herne Bay. Cllr Chris Cornell will also talk about the recently published draft Town Centre Strategy for Whitstable.
So do join us to hear what’s happening, air your views and ask questions. It should be a lively debate!
